The Ascending Vine

The client wanted the leaves to have real depth rather than painted shading, so each leaf is actually two pieces of glass — a pale green base layer with a darker, textured green foiled on top of it, offset by a millimetre so the edge catches light differently depending on where you’re standing in the stairwell. It’s four times the cutting work of a single-layer leaf. We think it’s the only way the effect actually works.
