The Long Nave

Clerestory restoration means working forty feet up on scaffolding that has to come down every evening for services, which turns a straightforward six-week restoration into a two-winter project. Roughly a third of the original glass was too degraded to save and was replaced with new glass hand-matched to the surviving panels — the rest was cleaned, releaded, and reset exactly where it had sat since the nineteenth-century restoration.
